Advisory

Energy & Infrastructure Advisory

Independent technical-commercial advice for owners, developers and investors who need clarity before they commit capital, sign contracts or pass a governance gate.

Investment and transaction decisions

Advisory work is scoped around the decision you are about to make: acquire, divest, refinance, appoint a contractor, or release the next tranche of capital. TDTEC connects engineering evidence to the questions boards, investment committees and lenders actually ask.

Typical mandates include technical due diligence, renewable asset reviews, commercial due diligence on delivery and contract exposure, and independent project assurance where governance needs an external view.

Technical-commercial risk

Energy and infrastructure projects fail in the gaps between studies, contracts and delivery reality. Advisory work tests whether technical assumptions in the investment case are supportable, whether interfaces are allocated, and whether residual risk is visible to the decision-maker.

Experience from prior roles — including portfolio-scale renewables and BESS at Ark Energy, hydrogen and ammonia development with FFI/Ark, and high-voltage and commercial work on Origin APLNG — informs how risks are framed. That background is attributed to those employers; it is not presented as TDTEC project delivery unless separately agreed.

Project governance and assurance

When a project is off track, underperforming, or approaching a gate with unresolved issues, an independent health review can clarify what is recoverable and what requires a decision. That is different from design assurance on a single package: the focus is delivery, governance and the path to a defensible outcome.

Project assurance & independent reviews — governance, delivery risk and actionable findings for owners.

Design assurance, RPEQ review and owner's engineering sit under engineering services where the mandate is package-level review rather than programme-level oversight.

Commercial negotiation support

Major energy contracts turn on technical schedules, performance assumptions and risk allocation. TDTEC can support negotiation with engineering-led analysis of departures, warranty interfaces and delivery exposure — working alongside your legal and commercial advisers, not replacing them.

This includes transaction support where commercial terms must align with what the plant, grid connection and EPC scope can realistically deliver. Tax advice, legal due diligence and market research are outside TDTEC's scope.

Independent advice and conflicts

Advisory engagements are accepted only where TDTEC can remain independent of the delivering party and the commercial position of one side of a transaction. Conflicts are checked before work begins.

Where disputes require formal opinions, electrical engineering expert witness work is taken within the practice's technical scope — high-voltage systems, renewable plant, BESS, commissioning and complex project delivery — with evidence-led reporting and stated limitations.

Industrial decarbonisation and energy strategy that leads into investable projects is supported through industrial energy & decarbonisation strategy.

How is advisory different from engineering design?

Advisory tests decisions, risks and assumptions. Engineering design produces deliverables for construction. TDTEC does not act as a substitute EPC designer; it provides owner-side and investor-side judgement.

Do you advise on tax, legal or market due diligence?

No. TDTEC provides technical and technical-commercial advisory. Tax, legal, accounting and market research due diligence should be handled by the appropriate specialist advisers.

Where is TDTEC based?

Brisbane based, working nationally on energy and infrastructure projects. Queensland RPEQ design review is a separate service where registered professional engineering work in Queensland is required.
